4 Fun Costume Ideas for Glow in the Dark Contacts

Costume Ideas for Glow in the Dark Contacts

Creating and coming up with costume ideas for glow in the dark contacts is fun! Check first that your event will have blacklight, since the glow in the dark contacts won’t work without it. Clubs, parties, raves, haunted attractions, and even blacklight mini golf are all situations where your UV reactive contacts will pop and put your look over the top! We can’t stress it enough to be sure the event will have blacklight. If you wear the lenses in normal light conditions, or in the dark without a blacklight, they will have a pastel hue to them.

1. UV Painted Skull with Glowing Eyes

A painted skull can create some really funky illusions. Certain colors of UV paint push items forward, other colors set items back. Use color combinations that push your high points forward… your jawline, eyebrow ridge and cheekbones. Use colors on your cheeks and mouth areas that create depth. Finish the look off with deep dark black around your eyes. This approach combined with the yellow glow in the dark contacts will make your eyes will look like they are glowing from deep within your skull!

2. 3D Painted Clown

This one can be especially fun if you work as a haunted house actor. With endless possibilities of color combinations, and overall character direction, there are countless clown costume ideas for glow in the dark contacts. A lot of haunted attractions have a section that is themed in blacklight. Using the 3D makeup to create a crazy look for your face paint is fun… and finishing off the look with glow in the dark contacts puts it over the top. Another approach would be to camouflage yourself, and then reveal your look when you open your eyes in the blacklight. It will definitely be unexpected, and will get you some scares.

3. Crazy Painted-Hair Raver

This look can be a little more wild, fun, and loose. Long, dreadlock style hair can look absolutely INSANE when you color it with the blacklight colors. Patterns, streaks, splatters, and whatever technique you use overall to create your club look, will be enhanced when you add the glow in the dark contacts to the mix. Some people coordinate their eyes to match the theme of their overall costume, but that isn’t necessary. It’s all about fun and being different. All colors of UV contacts will work… it is completely up to you which direction you take it in! Mix and match for some really fun looks. You will stand out in the crowd for sure!

4. Futuristic Steampunk

Spikes, goggles, and gas masks… oh my! What list of costume ideas for glow in the dark contacts would be complete without a steampunk addition!? Didn’t think your steampunk look could get any better? Add a twist to your character by putting a futuristic blacklight-reactive spin on it. If you already have glowing accessories for your costume, adding some blue glow in the dark contacts completes the look. Taking it in a toxic/radioactive direction? Green glow in the dark contacts have a nuclear feel! The way you combine these elements is up to you. Introduce elements that make sense for your character and the theme. Be sure your event / venue will have blacklight though. Without it, the contacts will have a pastel tone look to them.
