If you have always wanted to party like a Vampire, then you will want to make sure to plan your next Salem trip accordingly! We host several events throughout the year, all leading up to our Main Event: the Endless Night Salem Vampire Ball!

What is Endless Night?

Endless Night is the world’s largest producer of vampire events. Led by Impresario Father Sebastiaan, Endless Night, has been producing Vampire Balls since the mid 90s all over the world! If you are looking for the biggest, most extravagant Vampire Parties, then you have found them. We are honored to produce and host the Endless Night New England Events, and we invite you into our world. More on the full Endless Night calendar later… but for now, let’s look at the different types of events we produce here.

Types of Events.

There are two types of events we host here in New England: Vampire Salons and Vampire Balls. All of our Endless Night events are 21+ and each of them are beautifully different. The biggest differences are the size of the events, the dress code, and the elements that you will see when you attend. They are very unique experiences and we encourage you to attend them both for the full immersive experience. We will talk about each of the events in detail… let’s dive in!

Vampire Salons: Intimate Formal Events

A Vampire Salon is one type of Salem Vampire Event we host during the year. Think of these as smaller, more intimate gatherings… like a mini Vampire Ball. These Salons are usually attended by about 150 people, and can take place at various locations. These are formal events with lots of music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks!

During the evening, there are also performances, a Vampyre Ritual, and even a Best Dressed Contest (more on the attire later). You might see a belly dancer, a burlesque show, or a ballet performance! We even brought in a sword swallower… it was pretty cool watching the LED sword glow all the way down her esophagus! The men got wide eyed and the ladies were quite envious. 😈

Vampire Salon Dress Code.

Vampire Salons are formal events that require all black attire. Absolutely no colored clothing is allowed at Salons. You will not make it past the Gatekeeper. We see the full range of black outfits at our Salons… ranging from the sleek, sexy, little black dresses all the way to the over-the-top Victorian head to toe classic Vampire looks. Jeans, teeshirts, sneakers, hats, and sportswear are not allowed.

Gold and silver jewelry and accessories are okay, but remember that moderation is key. If you have color in your hair or makeup, that is totally fine too! But remember… absolutely NO RED clothing or accessories of any kind. Red is always reserved for the Hosts of the evening. As always, if you have specific questions, just reach out! We are always here to help! Remember that the dress code for Salem Vampire Events isn’t always the same. Vampire Balls have a different dress code than Vampire Salons. More on that later!

The Hosts.

When you are at the Vampire Salon, you might notice that there are at least a couple people that are wearing red outfits and/or red accessories. These are the Hosts for the evening. This is an Endless Night tradition and you will see this pattern at every event regardless of the city… whether it is Tampa, New Orleans, or Los Angeles. The Host’s colors may morph over time, but for now, red is the color. Salem’s color theme is traditionally black and gold, so you will likely see that color scheme a lot, regardless of the event.

The Hosts for all Salem Vampire Events are Benjamin Addam and Alexis Pharae. They are the owners of Vampfangs and are directly responsible for producing all of the Endless Night New England events alongside their team. During the events, you will see them leading the evening toast, making announcements, introducing the performers of the evening, and running the Best Dressed Contest. Raise a glass with them and toast to a fun night! You might even see Endless Night Impresario, Father Sebastiaan, in attendance!

Salem Vampire Ball: The Main Event

The Endless Night Salem Vampire Ball is the largest, most elegant party in the city of Salem! It takes place once a year, usually in September or October. Attendance can be upwards of 800 people! If you are looking for THE gathering of year, then you have found it. As it turns out… Vampires really know how to throw a killer party. The venue may change over time, but for now, the entire Hawthorne Hotel is our playground. As soon as you walk through the door, we transport you to an entirely different world. Beautiful florals, luxury decor, professional lighting and more, all play a role in creating an alternate world. Complete immersion will make you forget that a world outside the hotel doors even exists.

Three levels of activities give you lots to explore! The Main Floor is where the heart of the party is. The Main Stage is in the Grand Ballroom and is where all performances take place. If this is what you came for, you will want to hang in this room for most of the night. A massive stage and LED screen… tons of lights and concert grade sound and effects all come together to create the largest production ever in the hotel! This is where all of the announcements are made from, if there is a band booked, this is where they perform and it’s where the “Cirque” happens at Midnight! DJs spin all night long and there is lots of dancing in there too!

Definitely explore the other rooms… but be sure to check the schedule of events to be sure you don’t miss that act you are pumped about!

Exploring the Auxiliary Rooms

When you go exploring, check out the other rooms on the main level and the basement too! The Lobby is always a good place for photos and for seeing lots of people as they move from one space to the next.  The rooms on the main floor named Nathaniel’s and Sophia’s house a couple of bars, along with the second stage. If you are looking to dance nonstop, then this is where you will want to spend a good part of your night! Since all of the acts and performances happen on the Main Stage, the dancing doesn’t stop in Nat’s/Sophia’s all night! This is also where you can get up close and personal with the DJs and even submit requests for them to play!

The Library in the basement was a swanky lounge for 2021 where you could go to disappear and just chill for an intimate convo or some lounge pics… and we hear there are some… shall we say… more adventurous… things in the works for the 2022 Ball. Let’s just say… whatever happens in the Library STAYS in the Library. No photos allowed. 😉

The VIV Floor

All of the event spaces on the second floor of the hotel are reserved for VIV Ticket Holders. Here is where you will find more private spaces. Grab a drink at the bar and cozy up on the couch. The VIV floor is less crowded than the main dance areas, so if you are looking for a place to escape, this is it! For an authentic Vampire experience, stop into the Absinthe Bar. Lounge as your barkeep concocts “Dracula’s Drink” for you… watch as the absinthe drips over the sugar cube. The finished product… to die for. Here on the VIV Floor, you will also find passed hors d’oeuvres fit for a Vampire and elaborate food spreads. Enjoy it all as you sit by the Mezzanine windows that overlook the Grand Ballroom and the Main Stage! Enjoy your Salem Vampire Event in style.

Vampire Ball Dress Code

The dress code for the Vampire Ball is completely different than the other types of events. The Salem Vampire Ball is a Gala-style Event. High fashion, couture, elaborate headdresses, gowns, and tuxedos are all commonplace. For the Vampire Ball… color is ALLOWED! No colors are off limits, and you will see tons of variety. Peek through the gallery below to see some of the amazing outfits from last year! We obviously highly encourage vampire fangs and fx contact lenses as well. We can help with that! While you will see lots of elaborate outfits, it’s not required in order to attend. You can’t ever go wrong with a classy dress or suit!

Dress Code Don’ts

Now that we have covered the Do’s, we should probably cover the “don’ts” as well. It’s important to know what types of clothing that we do not allow at the Salem Vampire Events. Guests wearing any of these items will not be allowed in. Please don’t show up out of dress code… our Gatekeeper will turn you away. The list should be pretty clear and self explanatory… but you can always reach out to us if you have any questions and we can help! No sneakers, flip flops, sandals, street clothes, t shirts, baseball caps, sports jerseys, khakis, or blue jeans. No super hero costumes, other cartoon characters, uniforms or symbolism that depict any form of neo-nazism, fascist or anti-fascist symbolism.

Types of Vampire Ball Tickets

There are usually a few different types of tickets available for purchase to the Vampire Ball. You can purchase Friday and Saturday General Admission tickets separately. The General Admission tickets grant you access to the Main Level and basement areas of the event, and include some food and a cash bar. The Saturday night Main Event Vampire Ball also has a Diamond Ticket available. The Diamond Ticket grants you access to ALL areas of the event, including the VIV Second Floor areas. It includes TONS of food and an OPEN BAR all night!!!

If you are looking for the full weekend Vampire Experience, then check out the VIV Weekend Pass. This ticket includes access to ALL of the events for the weekend except for the Convivium Dinner, which we will talk about in a future post. The VIV Pass includes OPEN BAR for BOTH nights, access to every activated area at the events, tons of food options to choose from, a private performance, and even special gifts from Vampfangs and the other sponsors. The VIV Weekend Pass also includes activities on Saturday daytime such as classes and small private events. There is only a limited number of these tickets available each year… so if you are looking for the full experience, don’t wait!
