UV Glow in the Dark Contacts – Commonly Asked Questions
Glow in the Dark Contacts – Answers to Common Questions
Do they make glow in the dark contacts?
Well… sort of. The contact lenses that people commonly refer to as “glow in the dark contacts” are really contacts that react to blacklight. Without the blacklight, the glow in the dark contacts are usually closer to pastel colors.
How do glow in the dark contacts work?
Glow in the dark contacts are manufactured with a luminescent material between the 2 layers of the lens. When the lenses are exposed to blacklight, the material reacts with the light, and makes them “glow.”
Do glow in the dark contacts come in prescription strengths?
Yes. All of our glow in the dark contacts are available in corrective strengths from 0.00 through -6.00 and can be selected with different strengths for each eye. This range covers most common prescription ranges.
Will glow in the dark contacts work without blacklight?
No. Glow in the dark contacts require blacklight to work. Without blacklight, the glow in the dark contacts won’t work. In normal light conditions, or in the dark without blacklight, the lenses will have a soft pastel hue.
Are glow in the dark contacts safe?
Yes. If you purchase legal contact lenses that are cleared by the FDA, and you purchase from a reputable seller, then glow in the dark contacts are just as safe as other contact lenses without the glow in the dark feature.
Can I buy glow in the dark contacts without a prescription?
No. It’s against the law. Illegal contacts from shady sellers are unsafe. A valid prescription from an eye care professional is required to purchase ALL contact lenses. This law applies to Plano (non-corrective) contacts also.
