Red Tisane Tea
Red Tisane Tea – Honeybush & Rooibos
Honeybush is often grouped with rooibos and referred to as a "red tea" because of its reddish-brown color and sweet, earthy flavor when brewed. However, honeybush and rooibos come from different plants—honeybush is derived from the Cyclopia plant, while rooibos comes from the Aspalathus linearis plant. Both are caffeine-free herbal infusions (tisanes), not "true teas," as they don’t come from the Camellia sinensis plant. So while honeybush can be casually called a red tea, it’s technically an herbal tea or tisane.
