Top 5 Holiday Drinks For The Dark At Heart

With the Holidays in full swing, we are always on the hunt for a beverage that gives us all the feels. Whether you are looking for something to sip in solitude or a treat to bring to the customary holiday gatherings…our top choices are sure to be a hit! It was tough work coming up with this list…it took hours of grueling market research. Ok, we confess…we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

We present to you: Vampfangs Top 5 Holiday Drinks for the Dark at Heart.

Our Favorite Wine For Those With Dark Tastes

The Prisoner 2015 Napa Valley Red (Napa Valley, CA)

The Prisoner crossed a line. This bold wine from Napa Valley has aromas of Bing cherry, dark chocolate, clove, and roasted fig. Flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish. This Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Syrah and Charbono blend is so good it’s scary.
*Don’t forget to take your fangs out before you sip! Wouldn’t want to stain those pearly whites. Plus…who wants to swallow and have to pass a fang…NOT US! Please don’t fang and drink!

Hard Cider Winner…In A Landslide

Far From The Tree in Salem, MA is one of Vampfangs' Top Picks For Holiday Dark Tastes
Apple of My Chai – Far From the Tree (Salem, MA)

We drink a LOT of Hard Cider, and this one is definitely Vampfangs approved. With our roots in Salem, MA we are in the perfect spot. Some like it sweet, some like it dry…and we like it extra dry and spicy. While Apple of my Chai is only available in retail outlets August through October, Far From the Tree has this delicious cider on tap (and available for growler fills to take home) most of the year. This Semi-sweet; black tea cider with cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and orange peel is nothing short of incredible (and the growler makes a kickass gift!). If you are ever in our neck of the woods, check these guys out…you can thank us later!

Top Choice In The Beer Category

Notch Session Pils from Salem, MA is one of Vampfangs' favorite choices when we are looking for a hoppy beer!
Notch Session Pils – Notch Brewery (Salem, MA)

Another winner from Salem, Vampfangs’ Birthplace! Anytime we have visitors we always take them to Notch Brewery; the first brewery in the United States to focus exclusively on Sessions Beer. The favorite? Notch Session Pils. Not just for Holiday Drinks! It’s crisp, herbal, and hoppy notes are the perfect backdrop to counter balance a dark night in Salem. It’s the Ying to Salem’s Yang.

Top Shelf Vodka AND A Kickass Bottle

Crystal Head Vodka Is Vampfangs' Top Choice When You Want A Kickass Bottle And Don't Want To Compromise Quality
Crystal Head Vodka (Newfoundland, Canada)

Yep… the bottle is RIGHT up our ally. Crystal Head Vodka is a staple on the shelf in the Vampfangs Bar. But whats INSIDE the bottle is pretty impressive too (not to mention that our favorite Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd is behind the creation of this vodka). Highest quality peaches and cream corn is distilled four times into a neutral grain spirit and blended with pristine water from Newfoundland,  Canada. The liquid is then filtered seven times, of which three are through layers of semi precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. You read that right. Wicked. Freaking. Impressive.

Absinthe Winner: Underground Meets High Style

Vampfangs' Top Choice For A Classy, Yet Underground Absinthe Experience: Vieux Carre
Vieux Carré Absinthe Superiéure (Philadelphia, PA)

Pull up a chair in the Vampfangs underground study and pass the sugar cube…it’s Absinthe time.  Vieux Carré Absinthe Superiéure boasts on it’s website that it is the first legal absinthe distilled, bottled and sold on the East Coast- and it is one of our favorites. This minty absinthe has aromas of herbs, pine and anise. We love it because of it’s sweetness… and we know how intimidating Absinthe can be.

What’s In Your Chalice…

We hope that our Vampfangs approved spirits bring a grin to your face as they do ours… these are a few of our favorite things. We are always on the hunt for new brands and concoctions that we can add to our bar! Do you know something that deserves to be in the running for the Top 5 Holiday Drinks for the Dark at Heart? We would LOVE to hear from you! Tell us in the comments below.
